What to expect from an Online Hypnotherapy Session?

What to expect from an Online Hypnotherapy Session at Positive Perspective Hypnotherapy?

Each online hypnotherapy session is fully tailored to your individual needs. It includes:

  • Solution-focused conversation – to clarify your goals and focus on the changes you’d like to see.
  • Educational part – to help you understand how your inner mechanisms work and why you may feel the way you do, so you can better manage your day-to-day life.
  • Hypnosis – a deeply relaxing state where your mind becomes calmer, more focused, and more open to positive change. You feel relaxed, but at the same time your subconscious mind is doing important work – creating new patterns, releasing old habits, and supporting the changes you want to make.

Sessions usually last 60 to 80 minutes, depending on what we are working on together.

What do I need to prepare?

  • A quiet, private space where you feel comfortable.
  • A stable internet connection and camera.
  • A comfortable chair or sofa.
  • Headphones or earphones (optional, but they can help you focus).

What are the benefits of online hypnotherapy?

  • Convenience – no travel, easy to fit into your schedule.
  • Comfort – you can relax more deeply in your own surroundings.
  • Accessibility – sessions are available whether you’re in the UK or abroad.
  • Continuity – even if you’re travelling or busy, your therapy can continue online.

Even if you spend a lot of time online for work, clients often find these sessions feel very different – more like a reset than another video call.

What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are often confused. Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation and focused attention — similar to being completely absorbed in a book or a film. In this state, the mind becomes more open to positive suggestions and new ways of learning.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process that uses the state of hypnosis as one of its tools. It combines deep relaxation and focused attention with solution-focused conversation and professional techniques to support lasting changes in how you think, feel, and respond. In other words, hypnosis is the tool, while hypnotherapy is the process of using that tool for long-term benefit.

What does “Solution Focused” mean in online hypnotherapy?

“Solution Focused” means that we don’t spend sessions digging into what’s wrong —
we focus on what’s possible.

Instead of analysing the past in detail, we gently explore:
– what’s already working (even a little),
– what’s important to you,
– and how to take small, meaningful steps toward the life you want.

This approach is positive, respectful, and forward-looking.
It helps you reconnect with your strengths, your values, and your ability to move forward — even if things feel heavy or unclear right now.

You don’t need to have the answers.
We find them together, starting from where you are.

Where to start?

The first step is a Free Online Initial Consultation, which lasts around 45 minutes.
It’s a calm, informal conversation where you can share what you’d like to change or improve, and I’ll explain how hypnotherapy works and answer any questions you may have.

During the consultation, we’ll also fill in a short form together, which helps us understand your current situation and what you’re hoping for.
Based on this, we’ll decide together whether hypnotherapy is the right path for you and whether we can continue working together.

There’s no need to prepare anything in advance. There’s no pressure, no judgment — just a respectful and supportive space to talk.

To book your consultation, simply send me a message via email or through the contact form on the website.
It’s helpful if you briefly share what you’re looking for support with, and what you’d like to change or improve.
Please also let me know your general availability — which days and times work best for you.
I’ll then reply with possible appointment slots, and once we agree on a time, I’ll send you a link for our online meeting.

Writing this message is already the first step — a gentle move toward the change you’re hoping for.

How does it feel to have a hypnosis relaxation session online?

Clients find online hypnosis (trance) relaxation sessions to be just as effective and enjoyable as in-person ones. You may experience deep relaxation, clarity, and a sense of calm, all from the comfort of your own space. The familiar environment can even enhance your ability to relax and connect during the session.

What is a hypnotherapy session like?

Many people ask:

“What does a hypnotherapy session actually involve?”
“Is hypnosis safe?”
“Will I lose control?”

Most hypnotherapy sessions with me follow a simple structure: two parts, one purpose — to help you feel better.

First Part – A calm, solution-focused conversation

We begin by checking in — what’s been going well, and what kind of change you’d like to see.
You won’t need to go into your past or analyse painful memories.
Instead, we stay present-focused and gently explore what you’d like to shift.
You’ll also gain practical insight into how your brain and nervous system work, so you can feel more in tune with yourself.

Second Part – A relaxing, guided hypnosis

In the second part of the session, you simply sit or lie down comfortably at home, ideally with headphones.
You’ll close your eyes and listen to my voice, guiding you into a deeply calm, focused state — similar to that dreamy moment before falling asleep.
You’re still aware and in control, just fully relaxed.

Clients often tell me:

“It felt simpler than I thought – no magic, no weirdness.”
“It reminded me of a guided meditation — only softer and deeper.”
“I’ve never rested like that before. My body felt safe.”

Most people are surprised by how natural, safe, and enjoyable it feels — even during their very first session.

Still unsure if it’s for you?

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes, hypnotherapy is considered a safe therapeutic technique when conducted by a trained professional. I am trained & registered with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), and I carry insurance and a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, ensuring that you’re in safe hands. It’s a non-invasive method that can help with various issues, including stress, anxiety, and phobias.

What is hypnosis? What kind of state is it?

Hypnosis is a natural mental state of deep focus and relaxation.
There’s nothing magical or unusual about it — most people experience similar states every day, like just before falling asleep, while driving on “autopilot,” or when you’re fully absorbed in a book or film.

During hypnosis, your mind becomes more open to positive suggestions, and your nervous system can fully relax.
It’s not sleep — you remain aware and in control, able to speak, move, or open your eyes at any time.
You’re simply more inwardly focused, in a safe and calm mental space.

In clinical hypnotherapy, this state helps bypass overthinking and inner resistance — patterns that often keep us stuck.
This allows you to access deeper inner resources, feel calmer, and create the right conditions for lasting personal change.

Is Hypnosis Safe? Common Fears & Myths Explained

Myth 1: “What if I don’t wake up?”
→ You’re never asleep — you’re relaxed but aware, and you come back to full alertness naturally.

Myth 2: “What if I lose control?”
→ You stay in control the whole time. You can speak, move, and even open your eyes if you choose.

Myth 3: “What if it won’t work on me?”
→ Hypnosis is a natural state — almost everyone can experience it. The key is feeling safe and open to the process.

Myth 4: “It’s a bit woo-woo or strange.”
→ Clinical hypnotherapy is grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and therapeutic practice. It’s gentle, practical, and based on how the brain works — not on tricks.

Can I fall asleep? Am I going to wake up?

During a hypnotherapy session, you may experience deep relaxation that feels similar to sleep, but you won’t actually be asleep. Instead, you’ll enter a focused state of awareness, where you can engage with suggestions and therapeutic processes while remaining fully aware and in control.

When you sleep, you can still hear various sounds around you. For example, parents often wake up to the sound of a crying baby in another room. This phenomenon highlights the mind’s ability to remain partially aware even during deep sleep, allowing you to respond to important stimuli in your environment. Understanding this can be beneficial when considering the effects of relaxation techniques like hypnotherapy, where you may achieve a similar state of heightened awareness.

Absolutely! I will guide you back to full awareness at the end of the session, ensuring you feel refreshed and alert.

Does it work online?

Yes, hypnotherapy works effectively online! The techniques and strategies used in hypnotherapy can be adapted for virtual settings, allowing you to benefit from the process regardless of your location. Many clients have successfully achieved their therapeutic goals through online sessions, making it a convenient and accessible option. We feel best in our own homes, saving valuable time on travel. This allows us to easily incorporate sessions into our calendars.

All you need is a phone or computer with a reliable internet connection. You can have something to drink and a blanket for comfort. Sometimes, clients use headphones for better audio quality. Of course, it’s important to have a quiet and peaceful space during the session, allowing for true relaxation. You can comfortably sit or lie down during the hypnosis, trance time (relaxation part of the session).

How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Are Needed?

The number of hypnotherapy sessions needed varies from person to person. There is no fixed number, because each individual comes with a unique pace, goal, and life story.

During your Free Initial Consultation, we’ll explore what you’d like to work on, and I’ll offer a gentle recommendation based on your situation. Typically, a minimum of 6–8 sessions is suggested to begin seeing meaningful change. In some cases, especially when challenges are long-standing or more complex, 10–12 sessions may be more appropriate.

What’s most important to understand is that hypnotherapy is a process — not a quick fix. Change takes time, consistency, and repetition. Our brains thrive on repetition to form and strengthen new habits and ways of thinking. This is how long-lasting transformation happens.

Ultimately, you decide how many sessions you want. Some clients feel ready after just a few sessions, while others choose to stay longer to build on their progress and deepen the changes. My role is to guide and support you at your own pace, always with respect and care.

Do I need to be in a specific state of mind for hypnotherapy?

No specific state of mind is required. However, being open to the process and willing to engage can enhance your experience.

How do I prepare for an online session?

Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and that your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) is charged. Wear comfortable clothing and consider using headphones for better audio quality.
