End-of-summer isn’t the end of rest. Learn how to make space for recovery in your weekly calendar, protect your energy, and avoid burnout this autumn.

Before September Fills Up
Late August always brings a sense of transition. Summer slowly fades, and Autumn 2025 starts knocking. Maybe you’re still on holiday. Maybe you’re already looking at your calendar and thinking, How am I going to manage everything this season?
We still have these last two weeks of August. Some of us are finishing holidays, some are already back at work, and many are beginning to write or update their business strategies for the coming months. And it’s true: September to December often becomes a marathon of tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.
But holidays ending doesn’t mean our rest has to end. Rest isn’t something reserved only for the summer — it’s something we need to weave into our weeks all year round.
That’s exactly why before you dive back into the busy months ahead, I want to gently ask you:
Have you made space in your schedule for rest — not just for doing?
Because in the world we live in, planning only tasks is not enough. We also need to plan for energy — and that’s something we often forget.
Why Are We So Tired?
One thing I often hear during Free Consultations is: “I’m here because I just feel tired all the time.” Or, more hopefully: “I’m here because I want to feel more rested and clear again.”
And yes — it’s true. Many of us are tired. But when we take a closer look, their week is full of everything… except anything that truly recharges them.
We’re taught to value being productive, achieving, staying on top of things. But rarely are we taught to protect time for doing… nothing. Or rather — for doing something simply because it feels good.
Your Week Isn’t Just a To-Do List
The truth is: you can’t focus on everything.
You can’t do it all. You can’t keep adding and expect not to break.
In today’s world, there are endless things you could be doing. But rest starts with the decision to do less. To prioritise. To treat your own wellbeing as non-negotiable.
Imagine your weekly calendar. Now ask:
– Where is your time in it?
– What supports you, not just the people around you?
– What moment is there just for you to breathe, slow down, reconnect?
Micro-practices Matter More Than You Think
The good news is: rest doesn’t have to be long or luxurious. What matters is consistency and intention.
Sometimes the simplest things carry the most strength — like getting a good night’s sleep.
Here are a few other examples I often recommend — and practise myself:
– 10 minutes of silence in the morning before screens
– A short walk — even just around the block
– Music that soothes your nervous system
– A warm drink in quiet
– Sitting by a window without multitasking
– A slow exhale, consciously
These are not small things. They are essential — especially if your life is full and demanding.
Protecting Time for Rest = Protecting Your Energy
One thing I notice often in therapy sessions is that people don’t “book in” their rest. They don’t mark it in their calendar. They don’t give it structure or priority.
But if your to-do list is full and your energy is low — you don’t need more willpower. You need more recovery. You need space to come back to yourself, so you can do everything else from a place of clarity and balance — not survival mode.
And if you feel that this autumn you’ll need regular support to balance work with rest, hypnotherapy can help you manage stress and protect your energy in this busy season.
Reflection Questions
If you’re planning your Autumn 2025 — start here:
– What genuinely recharges me (not just numbs me)?
– What moments in my week can I protect for myself?
– What’s one small daily habit I could begin now — not in October?
– What would my calendar look like if my energy was the priority?
– What would it look like if I treated my energy like the most important deadline this Autumn?
You deserve to feel energised and connected — not just “on top of things.” And yes, I know: planning rest feels like one more thing to do. But the truth is… rest is also a task. And like all the important tasks — it deserves a place on your calendar.
Take gentle care of yourself this season,
Marta
